How to adjust the front shock absorber of a mountain bike?

Most mountain bike front fork shock absorbers are equipped with two main adjustment knobs:

Left Knob - Softness and Hardness Adjustment: This knob is used to change the damping inside the shock absorber, thereby adjusting the softness and hardness of the shock absorber. When rotating in the "+" direction, the damping inside the shock absorber increases, and the front fork becomes harder. This is suitable for riding on flat and hard surfaces or when pursuing efficient pedaling. It can reduce unnecessary shaking of the front fork and make it easier for the pedaling force to be directly converted into forward driving force. When rotating in the "-" direction, the damping decreases, and the front fork becomes softer. This is more suitable for dealing with uneven roads full of potholes and stones. It can effectively absorb the bumps and improve the riding comfort.

Right Knob - Locking Function: The right knob is mainly responsible for controlling the locking state of the shock absorber. When turning this knob counterclockwise, the shock absorber will be locked, and at this time, the front fork can hardly be compressed. This is applicable in climbing scenarios as it can prevent the front fork from moving up and down due to pedaling actions during the climbing process, thus avoiding the waste of physical strength. When turning it clockwise, the shock absorber will be unlocked, restoring it to its normal working state. It can be used when riding on flat roads, downhill slopes, or in complex terrains to absorb the impacts from the road surface.
