How to solve the problem of buttock pain after riding a mountain bike for a long time?

Mountain bikes are sports bikes. They are designed for sports. The small seat is conducive to fast pedaling. Mountain bikes are designed for complex terrains, so the seats are relatively comfortable. If you look at the seats of road bikes, they are thinner and thinner. They not only do not affect the flexibility of the legs, but also reduce the weight as much as possible. Sports bikes sacrifice comfort while pursuing speed. But don't worry. There are quite a few ways to solve the problem of buttock pain after riding a mountain bike for a long time

First of all, choosing a suitable saddle is crucial. Although the original saddle is designed with performance in mind, there are many more considerate options on the market. For example, a saddle with a wider rear end can fit the sit bones over a large area, distributing the body weight and greatly relieving the concentrated pressure on the buttocks. Some saddles also have soft silicone pads built-in. When riding, it's like having a small air cushion to buffer, which can effectively reduce the impact of road bumps on the buttocks.

Secondly, adjusting the riding posture cannot be ignored. The height of the saddle needs to be adjusted properly. If it's too low, you'll have to rely on your buttocks to exert force when pedaling, and it will hurt even faster. The correct height is that when the pedal is at the lowest position, your knee should be slightly bent. In this way, the force exerted by your legs is smoother, and your buttocks will suffer less. The angle of the saddle also matters. Tilt the front end of the saddle slightly downward, about 1 to 2 degrees. This can prevent your body from sliding forward unconsciously and avoid excessive pressure on the front part of the buttocks. Moreover, investing in a pair of professional cycling shorts can bring about surprising changes. These shorts have a special thickened design in the buttock area, just like adding a layer of "protective armor" to the buttocks. When riding, it can reduce the friction between the saddle and the buttocks, and those areas that are prone to getting red and sore will be gently cared for.

Finally, the riding intensity should be increased gradually. When you first start long-distance mountain biking, don't try to take on extremely long distances all at once. Start with short rides. Wait until your body gradually adapts and your muscles have enough endurance, and then gradually increase the riding distance. In this way, your buttocks can also slowly get used to the pressure of riding, and the pain will naturally decrease. By mastering these methods, you can fully enjoy the fun of mountain biking without being troubled by buttock pain anymore.
